Patricia Ann Wood

Patricia “Pat” Wood at 92 years young, passed away Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 in Spokane and joined her husband Eric “Bud” Wood with Jesus and the Angels. Pat was born on St Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1931 in Chelan to Anna and Elmer Boyd. Pat learned to play Rummy and Pinochle at a young age and she loved to play cards up to the end, often beating her daughters at Rummy! Pat began her working career as a teenager in Chelan and Wenatchee orchards picking, thinning and packing fruit while she also helped care for her younger siblings. She worked at the Omak Hospital Kitchen and at the Okanogan Stockyards Restaurant. At 52 years old, Pat passed the CDL commercial license and began driving the cattle truck with Bud. Over the next 10 years, they drove over a million miles hauling livestock throughout the western states. At first Bud wouldn’t let her clean out the truck, but finally she bought her own shovel and helped! Throughout her lifetime, she enjoyed serving on the Altar Society at church. Bud saw Pat walking down Main Steet in Omak. He said “she is a dark haired beauty!” Pat married Bud 6 weeks later in Omak on September 12, 1948. During their 59 years of marriage, Pat followed Bud through ranching, farming and trucking making a family home in Okanogan, Duley Lake, Bridgeport, Omak, Spokane and Ritzville. Pat and Bud retired on their 60 acre farm in Ritzville. She cultivated 5 acres into a paradise of grass, trees and gardens. Pat had the greenest thumb around! Family was Pat’s life including all her extended family. She organized many family reunions and enjoyed birthdays, weddings and other gatherings which brought her happiness. She loved hunting rocks and driftwood while boating and fishing. In their retirement, Pat and Bud traveled to find long lost cousins in Iowa, Nebraska and California after years of genealogy research. Pat and Bud Wood raised 5 daughters in Omak: Peggy Skirko, Kathryn (Steve) Rappe’, Diane (Scott) Juhnke, Marjorie (Bill) Morse, and Rosemary (Larry) Coulson. Pat had 20 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. Pat is survived by Siblings: Della Graffis, Rose Goodnow, Chuck (Dodie) Boyd, Tony (Cynthia) Boyd and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat is preceded in death by her husband Bud Wood, Parents Anna and Elmer Boyd, Siblings Harold, Cody, Larry Boyd, and Trudi Parker. A Rosary service will be held at St. Thomas More Church in Spokane on Friday, April 14 at 5:30pm. Pat’s funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Okanogan on Monday, April 17 at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest next to Eric at the Omak Memorial Cemetery following the church service. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to a cancer charity of your choice.
