Daniel George Taylor

Daniel George Taylor was a Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on March 28, 1964 to Ruth Ann Cox in Batavia, New York. The family moved to Libby, MT in 1967. He went to school in Libby from Kindergarten through grade 12. He wrestled, played high school football for the Libby Loggers, played saxophone in the band, and enjoyed hiking, camping, and hunting with friends in the Cabinet Mountains of Northwestern Montana. As a child entrepreneur, he did everything he could to earn money, including collecting pop bottles and cans in his wagon, shoveling snow, mowing lawns, and bucking hay. Even as a young child he loved to play jokes on his family and friends. He was adopted by Richard Taylor when he was 12. He got a football scholarship to Carroll College in Helena, MT, with a plan to major in Math. After injuring his knee playing college football, he joined the Army, serving for 14 years. He is a decorated combat veteran. He started out enlisted and progressed to Warrant Officer Grade 3. He married Karen Dezellem in 1986 and had 2 children, Tiffani Nicole and Timothy Nicholas Taylor. He joined Herb Besler at Discount Vacuum and Sewing in 1990 and bought the store from him after one year. He was active in the Omak and Okanogan community including Rotary Acting President, Omak Chamber President, Okanogan Chamber member and officer, and the Washington State Elks Association. He was Omak Elks lodge President 2 times and went on to become President of the Washington State Elks Association. He married Rebecca Kelly in 2010. He retired from Discount Vacuum and Sewing in 2018. He enjoyed camping and hiking in the WA Pass and Diablo Lake area of the North Cascades. He was an amateur rockhound and coin collector. He enjoyed visiting the Dry Falls area and other areas of geologic wonder. Family was important to him. He enjoyed sitting around the campfire eating peanuts and being outside in general, doing yard work or gardening. He took pleasure in gazing at the mountains of his childhood. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. Customer service was important to him. He would go out of his way to help those in need. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Kelly of Omak, children Tim and Tiffani of Omak, stepchildren Cat Ludwig of Osceola, IN, Andrew Malone (Katylyn) and grandson Ayden of Anchorage, AK, Brothers Donald Taylor of Tri-cities, Hugh Richard Taylor 2nd (Debbie) of Libby, Mt, Jessie Taylor (Renee) of Helena, MT, stepsiblings Penny Meyer of Libby, MT, Robert Taylor from Alaska , Tim Taylor from Kalispel, MT, aunts Mary Cox of Chattaroy, WA, Marcy Kollat of Ohio, and Emily Deaver (Mike) of South Bend, IN, multiple cousins and uncle Roy Taylor ( Marilyn) of Malta, MT. He is preceded in death by parents Ruth and Richard Taylor, Grandma Florence Cox who affectionately called him Danny Boy, Grandpa Walter Cox, Grandma Gloria Taylor, and Grandpa Hugh Taylor. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Washington Elks Therapy Program for Children or Man Fisher Ministries in Omak. No public memorial is planned at this time.
