Caroll Duane Haynes

Caroll Duane Haynes passed quietly in his sleep at home Sept. 15, 2022, with his wife beside him. Caroll was born to Thomas Grover Haynes Sr. and Goldie Mae (Smith) Haynes in Clinton, Mo. April 10, 1939. His family moved to Tonasket, Wash. in 1944 where he attended school with the class of 1958. He joined the Army in 1956 until he was honorably discharged in 1959. He was employed at Biles-Coleman Lumber Company for a few years and then joined the Laborers Union doing heavy construction and concrete work including schools and the third powerhouse at Grand Coulee Dam. He always treasured those times and gained lifelong friends throughout those 30 years. Caroll was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy and had an infectious laugh. You could always hear him before you saw him. He met and married the love of his life, Ethelee (Wilson) Gregg in 1983 and they shared 39 years together having so much fun with many camping trips and shared holidays with friends and family, fishing, hunting, traveling, a couple of cruises, trips to Mexico and DANCING. Caroll was a fabulous dance partner. He was also a handyman extraordinaire with every task he attempted including remodeling almost every room in our home, building our beautiful deck, putting in our underground sprinklers, etc. Caroll was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and their wives, TG Jr (Joan) and Frank (Gretchen); special son and daughter, Darren and Kelly Gregg, in 2017; and grandson, Dillon Gregg, in March 2022. He is survived by his wife, Ethelee; sisters, Phyllis Morgan, and Donna Rogers Scott, of Omak; special son, Eric Gregg, of Omak; daughter-in-law, Tracy Gregg, of Auburn, WA; grandchildren, Amanda (Glenn) Graves and their children, Declan and Delilah; Shaylee Moultray and her children, Hudson and Aston; Jake (Sarah) Gregg; Nydia Epps (Zach) and their children, Eli, Payton. Adeline and Grace; Richard G. Haworth; Paris Gregg; former daughters-in-law, Michele Gregg and Belem Gregg; special family friend, John Murphy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews who adored their fun-loving Uncle Caroll. From previous marriages daughter, Renee Haynes Smith and son Jeffrey Haynes; stepchildren, Jesse and Jeffrey Moore, Shelly (Dale) Dunckel, and Sharma Moore; and last but not least his many special friends and good & ol fishin and huntin buddies. He will be especially missed by all who knew him and loved him for his zest of life, his appreciation for the beautiful outdoors, his humor and most of all his laugh. Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at River Valley Funeral Home, 2547 Elmway, Okanogan, WA with Pastor Jack Schneider officiating and memorial dinner following at 1 p.m. at the Okanogan Eagles 3004, 1820 N. 2 nd .
