Annie B Hogan-Anderson

Ann Hogan-Anderson, 96, 0f Omak, WA passed away peacefully into the arms of her Saviour, Jesus Christ, March 11th 2026. Annie B. was born September 27th 1929 in Risen, AR to parents Hulda (McClellan) and Jimmie C Anderson. She was the eldest of 6 children and outlived all her siblings. When her sister , Sally was only 6 weeks old the family moved to Donna, TX for work and to be near Huldie’s family. Ann became “ Aunt Annie" at an early age as Hulda was the oldest of 12 McClellan siblings. She remained “Aunt Annie” to many nephews and nieces for the rest of her life. As the families struggled to get by in those lean years, the 5 young girls and parents headed to Brewster, WA .where Jimmie found steady orchard work. It was there her brother Roy David was born. The girls had all decided they didn't want a” Boy” but ended up loving him . After stepping on a nail near the barn, sister Ila developed Tetanus and Lockjaw, having no hospital in Brewster, she ended up at Omak Hospital, dying a few weeks before Annie’s senior year. Because of this tragedy, Annie missed the first weeks of school but soon was able to catch up and graduate with honors.. She and Lizzie worked at BrewstersTheater as ushers and there Ann met and fell in love with Mark Hogan . They married Sept 12,1948, the couple moved to Holden, WA where Mark worked as a miner. It was there Ann became the mother of 3 little girls, (all a year apart,) this fulltime job suited her well as she was a natural mother,beautician, and dress-maker. While living at Holden she taught Sunday school, and enjoyed bowling and pinochle with her circle of friends. In winter she shoveled snow, sewed, and crocheted. As the men worked at the mine, their wives and children became forever friends in the small village. When Susan began first grade all the neighboring children walked to and from school together through the woods. Holden Mine closed in 1957 and the family moved to Omak, Ann worked alongside Mark in the apple industry,(thinning, picking and packing apples)they worked the Bubble and Fluff Laundromat and once owned and operated the Omak Taxi, Ann”s permanent job as Secretary for the Valley Care Center (Tillcum House) lasted 25 years until retirement. Throughout the years, the family made many trips to Arkansas to see their Hogan families. Mark would come home from work at Biles Coman, and announce their departure date, Ann would begin sewing summer shorts and tops through the night and was ready to go when the time came. She loved to sew, and made many last minute dresses for her girls. She made all Jeanie's wedding and bridesmaids dresses, she made flannel shirts for her son in laws and grandkids. After retirement, Ann took on many responsibilities at the Omak Senior Center, secretary, SHIPA, clothing bank and store.. Ann never stopped learning .She took lessons to play the guitar and organ. She learned Spanish, bookkeeping, grant writing, and computer classes at the college. Mark and Ann loved their 5 grandchildren and took them fishing, hunting , and taught them to love gardening.. Mark passed away in 1996,after 48 years of marriage. Ann trusted the Lord for His guidance and continued to be involved at church and Omak Senior Center where she met and married Sid Anderson. Together they danced all over Okanogan Co., enjoyed family reunions, and traveled. They took Senior bus trips and enjoyed their time together. They both were involved at the Omak Senior Center, where they ate lunch and visited with their many friends. After Sid died in Tonasket hospital Jan 23,2025. At 95 she was unable to stay alone and realized it was time to start her last adventure in life. Ann moved into North Valley Extended Care in Tonasket, leaving behind her Omak home of 68 years. She was determined she would not look back, but continue onward to her new home in Tonasket. She chose to treat others as she would like to be treated, and soon won the hearts of staff and fellow patients alike. Ann was determined to meet and greet each patient as they lined the hallway before meals. She loved and participated in Sunday church and weekly bible studies, activities, and Bingo. She loved it when people would come in to sing or entertain them. Her favorite was when the Mennonite families came to sing old hymns, she said it felt just like she was in church at Omak FM. Ann loved her new home and highly recommended it to anyone who asked. Ann's health began a downhill spiral in June of 2025, her care in illness was wonderful, and when she felt good enough, Ann would continued to love and encourage others . She enjoyed her circle of friends at mealtime. Susan&Terry, were able to visit her almost daily, Jeanie ,Cheryl and others came often and Ann loved those visits. She was delighted when the grandkids came and she would talk about them for weeks. Ann received much love and attention from staff and fellow patients. Her many phone calls from family and friends, made life more enjoyable there. She Loved her new home. and made many beautiful friendships there. Ann is survived by daughters and husbands , Susan ( Terry )Wright, Jeanie (Lee) Barnett, and Cheryl (Bob) MacPherson. Grandsons, Phillip Wright, Marcus (Kristen) Wright, Timothy (Shannon) Barnett. Seven great grandchildren: Alex and Jason Wright,, Arden and Rowen Wright, Dane, Caden and Adalyn Barnett. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Hudla and Jimmie Anderson, Siblings Liz,Ila, Sally, Josephine and Roy David. Husbands :Mark Hogan and Sid Anderson. Grandchildren Kara and Thomas Barnett. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, March 28th 2026 at Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to a memory celebration Potluck at Omak Sr Center following internment..
