Lisa Doreen True

Lisa Doreen True was born on March 20, 1964, in Grand Coulee, Washington, to Bobbi (White) and John Nicholson. Lisa passed 4/2/26 at MVH following a courageous hard fought battle with cancer From the beginning, Lisa was a true force of nature—defined by her strong spirit, unwavering positive attitude, and a quick, humorous wit that was always anchored by her deep faith in Jesus. Lisa was a staple in her family's eyes, having the ability to explain various situations with a win that will truly be missed. She spent her childhood on a ranch in Ellisforde, surrounded by cattle, horses, and a bounty of garden life. Her adventurous spirit was forged early, whether she was riding horses, swimming in the river, or outsmarting her brothers on dirt bikes. A talented athlete and cheerleader, Lisa attended schools in both Tonasket and Omak, graduating from Omak High School in 1982. Lisa was a lifelong learner with an impressive academic journey. She earned her Associate’s degree as a data programmer from SCC in 1984, a Bachelor’s in Finance from Gonzaga University in 1988, and her Master’s degree from Boston University in 2021. Her professional career was dedicated to service, working extensively for the Colville Tribes in various roles—including Grant Writer and Health Educator—as well as serving as a Grant Contract Coordinator for the Suquamish Tribe. On July 22, 1994, Lisa married Darrell True. Together, they built a life on Omak Mountain Road, where they raised their two sons, Peyton and Logan. Lisa was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Alec; her nephew, Lamont; her great-niece, Alizzay; and her beloved Aunt Babe, who helped raise her. She is survived by her husband, Darrell; her sons, Peyton and Logan; her brothers, Clint and Monte; and a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also leaves behind her four-legged companions: Iris, Zeus, Freya, and Phoebe. Lisa found peace in the mountains hiking with her dogs and joy in simple moments like ATV rides and drives with Darrell. A gifted creator, she was known for her beadwork and her passion for sharing her knowledge of stones. In 2025, she further strengthened her spiritual journey by attending her Cursillo in Nespelem. Rosary held 7 pm at omak long house on 4/6/26, Funeral held 10am at omak longhouse on 4/7/26, followed by cremation. Burial will be 4/11/26 at 1pm at ellisforde cemetery.
