Joseph Lee Simpson

Joseph Lee Simpson, age 50, of Omak, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2026, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply. Joe was born on April 25,1976, in Elko, Nevada, to Duane and Olga Simpson. From an early age, he possessed the gift of connecting with others through laughter, stories, and a genuine kindness that made people feel seen and valued. Above all else, Joe was a devoted family man. He was the beloved husband and soulmate of Jessica, the love of his life and his greatest companion. Together they built a life filled with love, resilience, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another. Joe’s proudest role was caring for and loving his family. He leaves behind his cherished children: Aaron Simpson, father of Joe’s beloved grandson, Levi; Zara Simpson; Max Barbone; and Justin, who was not bound by blood but forever held as a son in Joe’s heart. He is also survived by his father, Duane Simpson; his brothers, Michael (Alicia), Bones (Tiki), Isaac (Lydia), and Fayce (Edna); his sister, Karenia (Shawn); and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Olga Simpson, whose love and guidance remained with him throughout his life, and by his and Jessica’s precious children lost before their first breath; Baby P, Baby Leo, (triplets) Logan James, Landon Albert, Layla Marie, Baby Thomas, and Ava Grace. A hardworking man, Joe spent many years working as a miner. He then earned his Bachelors in Business later serving in various positions within his own tribe, the Colville Confederated Tribes. Wherever life took him, he carried with him a strong work ethic, a generous spirit, and a deep respect for those around him. When he wasn’t working, Joe found joy in the simple things he loved most: hunting, cheering on the Seahawks, watching NASCAR and hockey, and spending time surrounded by family and friends. Yet perhaps what people will remember most about Joe were his stories. He had a remarkable ability to bring people together with his words, weaving humor, wisdom, and unforgettable memories into every conversation. His talent for storytelling earned him the affectionate nickname “Coyote” from tribal elders, a name he wore with pride. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, those who knew and loved Joe take comfort in the countless memories he created and the legacy of love, laughter, and connection he leaves behind. His stories will continue to be told, his laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of those who knew him, and his love will remain a guiding presence for all who were fortunate enough to share in his life. Joe will be missed beyond words and remembered forever (or as his immediate family would say “Until the numbers end). There will be a sunrise burial this Saturday, June 13th, 2026. Followed by services at Nespelem Community Center Beginning at 9 AM, Saturday, June 13th 2026
