Andrew James Phillip Swezey

Andrew James Phillip Swezey was born March 27, 1987 in Vici Oklahoma to Greg and Ja Lea Swezey and died April 11th 2026 near Carlton Washington. AJ and his family moved to Brewster Wa in 1989 where he attended the Brewster christian elementary school and then Brewster middle and high school and finally Pateros High school where he graduated in 2006. AJ’s childhood was full of running wild in the canyon behind his childhood home with his brothers Scotty and Zakk. He learned to hunt and fish and fix broken things. He played baseball and Football and wrestled. AJ had a heart for adventure and new things. He held many different jobs that he loved and excelled at. He worked for this family HVAC company in multiple capacities over the years, he worked as a well driller, invasive species manager, as a line cook at Sonic and in roofing and construction, He was a census worker in okanogan county twice and he worked as a political canvasser. He loved those jobs because he met so many people every day and AJ loved talking to people. AJ’s family, many friends and church community were everything to him. He was baptized into the general assembly and church of the firstborn May 4th 2008 by Cory Bell. AJ married the love of his life, Emily, June 25th 2011. They lived around Olympia Washington for the first 4 years of their marriage where they had many adventures in the forests and on the beaches of Washington state and regularly traveled to visit family and church community. In 2015 they moved back to Okanogan County, where AJ first worked for MVM Quality Drilling and then went back to work for the family company Cascade Mechanical as the electrical administrator. In 2017 they bought their small farm near Okanogan Washington. He learned to maintain his own hay equipment and took pride in making excellent hay for Emily’s animals. AJ was a man of many skills and had a passion for learning how things worked and fixing and making them. He was a blacksmith, knivesmith, did leather work, he played guitar and made guns with his father and did his own mechanical work, electrical, plumbing and remodel projects. One Christmas he hand-bound a leather book, in secret over the course of many weeks, as a gift for his wife. His love of adventure found an outlet in bouldering and rock climbing. He worked hard to master the climbing skills and learn climbing safety systems. He set bolts for new routes and he repaired old bolts on existing routes around Okanogan county. This was a major multi year project that he was very proud of and considered it to be a lasting legacy he left for other climbers to enjoy new routes and old routes more safely. AJ could repair just about anything he put his mind to and took great joy in doing that for all of his community. He loved being able to help people with his skills and he loved hearing the life story of every person he met. AJ was the most giving friend anyone could possibly have and was always ready to answer a call for help from his friends. AJ is survived by his wife Emily, of Okanogan, WA. His parents Greg & Ja Lea and sister Abi of Carlton, WA. Sister-in-law Shay and her husband Jeryl and his niece Richan and nephew Reese of Sapulpa Ok. He was preceded in death by his sister Ashley and brothers Zakk and Scott, grandparents John and Rosalee Freeman, grandfather J.W. Evans, grandparents Phil and Betty Swezey, uncle Marty Evans, Cousin Bethany Evans, mother-in-law Kim Smith, and brother-in-law Ray Smith. A funeral will be held 12:00 PM, Saturday, April 18th 2026 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn with a burial at the Beaver Creek Cemetery, Twisp, WA at 2:00 PM following the church service.
